Here’s a bit about us:
Formed in 2009, the Wales Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (WBCC) is a leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to developing strong business, trade, and cultural links between Wales and Bangladesh. The Chamber serves as a platform for entrepreneurs, investors, professionals, and community leaders to build meaningful partnerships and support sustainable economic growth.
WBCC has a wide and active membership network across Wales, England, and Bangladesh, representing sectors such as hospitality, textiles, technology, imports and exports, real estate, and professional services. Through collaboration with government agencies, diplomatic missions, trade councils, and business networks, the Chamber promotes market access, encourages investment, and supports bilateral trade opportunities.
The Chamber has successfully conducted three trade missions to Bangladesh, organised with the support of the Welsh Government (WAG). These missions have strengthened international business relations, opened new trade pathways, and showcased Welsh potential in the global marketplace.
Importantly, the Chamber is run entirely on a voluntary basis. Its activities, events, and programs are funded by its directors and members, reflecting a strong commitment to community service, cooperation, and mutual development.
WBCC also plays a vital role in cultural and social engagement. It hosts business expos, networking events, charity initiatives, seminars, trade delegations, and cultural celebrations that highlight the contributions and heritage of the Bangladeshi community. The Chamber promotes mentorship and youth leadership to support future generations of business leaders.
The organisation was established under the leadership of Founding Chairman Dilabor Hussain, who now serves as Senior Advisor, offering guidance and continuity to the Chamber’s ongoing development.
Today, WBCC is led by:
- President Abdul Alim (Mike), who provides strategic leadership and oversees the Chamber’s organisational direction.
- Director General Md Imtiaz Hussain (Jackie), who represents the Chamber at national and international levels, leads trade-building efforts and strengthens relationships across the Chamber’s global network.
Together, they champion a mission of unity, progress, and economic empowerment. Driven by dedication, collaboration, and community spirit, the Wales Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce continues to be a respected bridge between Wales and Bangladesh—promoting cooperation, opportunity, and shared prosperity.
